Jatayu Conservation Campaign

To address the issue of declining population of vultures, Rewa Forest Department initiated Jatayu Samrakshan Abhiyan (Vulture Conservation Campaign) in Rewa Division, since Oct 2023.

It included Sensitization of different stakeholders (Veterinarians, Chemists, Gaushala managers, Cow-owners, villagers) to prevent the use of harmful & prohibited drugs like Diclofenac, Aceclofenac, Ketoprofen

Regular monitoring of vulture nesting & roosting sites by the Forest frontline staff.

Vulture population rose from around 350 in 2021 to around 650 in Vulture Census 2024.
